CCM (*Comitato Collaborazione Medica*) is an Italian NGO operating in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda, specialized in health-related projects implementation, either in humanitarian and development contexts.
Context
CCM Nairobi Office is responsible for the overall coordination of development initiatives carried out in both Kenya and Somalia. Currently, CCM is present in Somalia with 2 Offices (Garowe and Hargeisa). CCM operates in Puntland in partnership with the Ministry of Health for managing the Garowe General Hospital and implementing a program aimed to strengthen CEmONC services in Garowe town. Further, as Global Fund sub-recipient, CCM is responsible for the monitoring & evaluation of all Somalia TB Centres.
CCM is working as UNFPA implementing partner in the delivery of Comprehensive Emergency and Obstetric Neonatal Care in Garowe General Hospital, Puntland, Somalia. The activities envisage support to the hospital’s maternity department, both in a scope of skill-transfer as well as medical supplies, health education and awareness raising.

Main tasks
The Gynecologist collaborates with CCM project team for the timely and effective implementation of project activities. S/he reports to the Medical Coordinator;
Areas of responsibility
· Contribute to the expansion, integration and enhancement of CEmONC services in Garowe General Hospital, serving Nugaal Region population;
· Ensure the timely and continuous provision of the 9 CEmONC signal functions at Garowe General Hospital;
· Ensure the timely identification of high-risk pregnancies and their proper follow-up and management till after-birth;
· Promptly intervene and support the management of complicated deliveries in close collaboration with the Maternity team, setting up of an effective coordination and functional referral mechanism between primary and secondary care facilities;
· Carry out elective and emergency surgical operations including basic fistula repair and FGM repair;
· In close collaboration with the Maternity Head, ensure a daily supervision of all services and activities provided within the department;
· In close collaboration with Maternity Doctors, carry out daily consultations and inpatient ward rounds;
· In close collaboration with the Maternity Head, organize weekly meetings with staff members to prompt identify and address gaps in the delivery of care and discuss critical cases requiring adequate management and care;
· Ensure services provided to maternity patients respect the minimum quality standards and closely supervise the application of protocols by all department staff;
· Ensure and supervise the provision of a proper counseling and support following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death;
· Ensure data collection, compilation, analysis and reporting according to MoH tools and schedule, and in line with CCM procedures;
· Assess training needs of the staff of Maternity Department and propose a training plan to the MC;
· Ensure a continuous training of Maternity staff, through close supervision, technical assistance and on-job coaching;
· Assess training needs of the staff of 4 MCH supported by the project in terms of referral system and propose a training plan to the MC;
· Contribute to the organisation and monitoring of activities aimed at increasing awareness and demand for Maternal Care and CEmONC services among Garowe community;
· Discuss with the Medical Coordinator issues of concern as they arise, to ensure the timely identification and application of feasible corrective measures;
· Prepare write monthly reports on project activities as per CCM template;
· Represent CCM and provide technical assistance to the interagency RH Working Group established in Garowe to promote synergies and enhance the coordination among partners active in the MCH sub-sector.
Profile Requirements
Qualification
· Medical Academic Degree with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
· Post graduate studies in Public Health, Infections Disease, Health Care Evaluation and similar are strong assets
Requirements
· Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the same role
· Ability to manage and treat acute Fistula cases
· Ability to manage and treat FGM complications
· Excellent capacity building skills
· Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal capacities
· Proven ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines
· Proven ability to work individually and in team
· Good narrative and technical reporting skills
· Strong and proven capacity to respect and follow the Organization policies (i.e. security one) and the Country/local communities roles also
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
· Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
Strong Assets:
· Previous working experience in Somalia and/or International contexts
· Ability to treat any case of obstetric fistula;
· Ability to repair FGM cases;
· Knowledge of Somali language (written and spoken)
