Organization background
CCM -‐ Comitato Collaborazione Medica is an INGO founded in 1968 in Italy and specialized in the health sector. Its core mission is contributing to the development processes which safeguard and promote the right to health, by acting with an integrated approach on the health needs and by influencing the social-‐economical determinants. CCM aims at improving health conditions of the population in low-‐ income countries and intervenes through projects of international cooperation, education to the world citizenship, advocacy activities and interventions of health promotion in the context of migration processes.
CCM cooperates with the local communities and authorities to strengthen and develop the health systems, to improve accessibility to and the quality of prevention and healthcare services. CCM cooperates with local organizations and promotes an integrated and holistic approach to health by working directly with other local and international organizations in cross-‐cutting sectors which help the complete well-‐being of the individual.
CCM has been continuously in South Sudan since 1983, with main focus on Warrap and Lakes States. In the country, CCM is MoH partner in supporting the development of integrated health and nutrition service delivery, to meet MoH priority targets according to the national health strategies and official guidelines.
In Greater Tonj, CCM is acting as the leading agency in supporting primary healthcare services and Nutrition services in partnership with the State MoH. The activities implemented include: (I) support to facility based primary health care; (II) community based interventions; (III) public sensitization campaigns on Health and Nutrition.
To ensure smooth implementation of primary, secondary healthcare and nutrition services in Greater Tonj, CCM intends to recruit qualified personnel to fill the position of Senior Pharmacist.
Position Summary
Support primary and secondary healthcare service provision through optimization of drugs and other medical supplies management. This includes implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures, supervision and training of staff, inventory management, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Roles and responsibilities
- Support the CHD in data analysis to optimize the management of drugs and medical supplies (needs assessment, purchase, control, supply, consumption, rational use, cold chain, expiry dates, overstock/shortage etc.);
- Set-up a system to ensure regular and appropriate use of the pharmaceutical management information system tools (inventory records, stock cards, delivery notes, computer tools etc.) in all supported health facilities;
- In collaboration with the CHDs, set-up a system to ensure the regular supportive supervision to review the stock management process at the health facility level, providing guidance for quality improvement and develop SOP if needed;
- Support and guide the CHDs, Hospitals, PHC Advisors, Project Manager and logistics in the planning and purchase of drugs, consumables and equipment, in accordance with MoH guidelines and protocols;
- Provide training and technical support to the supported health facilities staff to ensure the proper stock, management, order and reporting of pharmaceutical supplies;
Analyzes and recommends loss prevention procedures and assures proper implementation of internal controls through the set-up and monitoring of regularly scheduled inventories and checks, pharmacy security procedures and joint mini-audits;
In collaboration with CHDs and CCM staff, support pharmacy technicians, assistants and dispensers; in precise filing of pharmaceutical tools and keeping of records in relation to medications utilization by patients;
Set-up and monitor a simple system to ensure that the suitable equipment and procedures are properly utilized;
Set-up and monitor a simple system to organize prompt distribution of drugs in collaboration with the CHD and PHC supervisors.
Ad-hoc monitoring missions to Counties, Hospitals and Facilities drug stores, giving technical guidance on store management and supplies security.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy of its equivalent
· At least 3 years of relevant work experience in primary and secondary healthcare setting
· Excellent written and spoken English
· Proficiency in MS office
· Flexibility and willingness to work in remote areas ,
